It coincides with the deadline for signing players that count against each team’s total when figuring up compensatory picks. That deadline happens tonight at 9 pm Pacific (midnight ET). After which, all players signed will not count in that total.Several players could be ready to sign with a team or have several teams interested, but those teams are waiting for the deadline to pass. Keep in mind, this only applies to players who are free agents because their previous contract was up. The former Seahawks, Raiders, and Falcons pass rusher has signed a one-year deal with the Panthers according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.Irvin was in his third season with the Raiders last year. The first two of which he had Khalil Mack on the other side which no doubt helped him to have the best two-year span of his career (15.0 sacks) after spending his first four years in Seattle. With Mack traded before the season, Irvin was left as the best pass rusher the Raiders had, putting up a team best 3.0 sacks in the first five games.It was following an ugly loss to his former team in London that looked like Irvin was done with the Raiders. And the loss thrust the team into rebuilding mode.The team didn’t release Irvin immediately. They waited a few weeks. He played his final game on November 1st — his Birthday. And five days later, just after all players must clear waivers instead of being cut outright, they waived him. He would clear waivers and then sign on with his hometown Atlanta Falcons.Irvin had spent the final 8 games of last season with the Falcons, putting up 3.5 sacks.
