RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Brazil is bringing back Dunga to coach the national football team, four years after he was fired from the same job. Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic . Tuesdays hiring comes two weeks after Brazil was eliminated from the World Cup in a humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany in the semifinals. The 50-year-old Dunga replaces Luiz Felipe Scolari, who resigned last week after Brazil failed to win footballs premier event on its home soil. It could be a difficult road for the former defensive midfielder. Several polls released in the last few days show he is highly unpopular, by margins of at least 3-to-1. "When it comes to the survey, we have to overcome that," Dunga said. "I think they (fans) will eventually understand the work we are planning, and I dont feel rejected. ... Im not going to change peoples mind set, but I will change the way people think about me." He also brought up the name of former South African President Nelson Mandela. "Without firing a gun, he changed how people thought about him," Dunga added. The Brazilian football confederation confirmed the appointment during a news conference at its headquarters in suburban Rio de Janeiro, but gave no details about salary. CBF President Jose Maria Marin indicated he wanted Dunga to continue until the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Dunga gave a blunt evaluation of Brazils situation. "Were no longer the best," he said. "Were all aware of this. We cant tell our fans that were the best." Dunga came to the job for the first time in 2006 with no management experience. He was criticized for the teams physical style of play and conservative tactics and spent time Tuesday suggesting he might be different this time. He said his focus was already on the next World Cup. Brazil will also play next year in the Copa America -- the South American championship -- and in a special Copa America edition in 2016 played in the United States. "My first time as coach, I was asked to rescue the teams value and get results," he said. "This second time around, the focus is on preparing the side for the 2018 World Cup." Dungas real name is Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri. His nickname Dunga literally means "Dopey" in Portuguese -- the same as one of the characters in Disneys Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -- and was given to him during childhood because of his small stature. He was the captain of Brazils 1994 World Cup-winning team, and coached the national team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He was dismissed after Brazil lost 2-1 in the quarterfinals to the Netherlands. "He has shown his capacity to lead the Brazil team, not only in words but also in numbers, that he has all the requisites and the capacity to lead the Brazil team again," confederation president Jose Maria Marin said. "It was a decision made with the participation of everyone here at this table in a show of unity and total integration aimed at great conquests in the future." Dungas returned was linked to the naming of Gilmar Rinaldi as the new technical director, replacing Carlos Alberto Parreira. Rinaldi, who sat next to Dunga on Tuesday, was a goalkeeper on the 94 team and has recently worked as a player agent. Dunga was in charge of 60 matches as national team coach in his first stint. Brazil won 42, drew 12 and lost six. Brazils image took a battering in the 7-1 loss to Germany. Many said it was worse than Brazils 2-1 loss to Uruguay in the final game of the 1950 World Cup, which was played at the Maracana Stadium in Rio. The loss against Germany broke several records and was one of the worst in Brazils history. The loss was also the first in a competitive match at home since 1975. Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys . Jackson Houck added a goal and two assists for the Giants (28-23-10), who halted a five-game slide, while Tyler Morrison, Mason Geertsen and Dominik Volek each scored once. Matt Bellerive scored both goals for the Blazers (12-43-5), who are 1-9-0 in their last 10 outings. Grilli hasnt pitched since straining his left oblique in late April. Manager Clint Hurdle says the right-hander will make a couple of appearances in middle relief before the team determines whether to return Grilli to the back end of the bullpen. What a timely trip to the City of Champions. This was an unexpected trip to Edmonton because at the beginning of the season I was not slated to make the trek to where it all began for me some 30 years ago. Then I received a phone call from Paul Graham, Vice-President & Executive Producer of Live Events for TSN, and he notified me that Edmonton was interested in having me get involved with the Canadian Football Hall of Fame Weekend by emceeing a few events. That got the ball rolling for yours truly to get out to my old stomping grounds and have a chance to call the Montreal at Edmonton game, plus get involved with the aforementioned HOF events. Bonus! I could not believe how lucky I was. You see, of the six inductees selected into the Hall this season I had a direct link to five. Crazy! I played with all four players going in and yelled at the other for fourteen years while playing. Why? Well thats easy. It was the legendary CFL official John "Jake" Ireland. We definitely had our nose-to-nose, get-it-all-out, knock-down, drag-out confrontations before. But now we are friends and it meant for some pretty good ole stories out in Edmonton this past week. And like I said before, Id played and was teammates with Brian Fryer, Dan Ferrone, Earl Winfield and Miles Gorrell. Don Loney, "Father of Maritime Football" and legendary coach at St. FX, was the other deserving inductee. Mr. Loney passed away in 2004 so his brother Ted and his lovely wife Jan were in attendance to accept the honor bestowed on Mr. Loney. Needless to say the hospitality suite was rocking each night we were in Edmonton, giving all the inductees and their families a chance to celebrate and tell some lies and endless hilarious stories. This made the week one that took a serious toll on the remaining brain cells I have left. Wholesale NFL Jerseys China. It all started with the Jacket Presentations on Wednesday evening, the bust unveiling on Thursday morning, the dinner and speeches Thursday evening then the Hall of Fame Game Saturday afternoon. I cant tell you how proud I was for the class of 2013 but also for the City of Champions. Although the professional sports in Edmonton may not be living up to the top billing lately, the people of Edmonton and their fans certainly are once again! Over 1,100 folks attended the Edmonton Eskimos Gala Dinner in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame celebration and the Induction Ceremonies for the class of 2013. Dave Randorf co-hosted the induction portion of the evening with me; basically we just tried not to screw things up because Aquila Productions had everything under control. It was truly a stellar evening. The work and effort that goes into something of this magnitude is overwhelming and often a labour of love for all involved. A Big "slow clap" for Executive Director of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame Mark DeNobile and Manager, Marketing and Events Sarah Lajeunesse. Id be remiss if I did not mention the ageless and wonderful Allan Watt, Vice Presiden,t Marketing and Communications for the Eskimos and the beautiful and talented Amy Moats, Marketing and Game Operations Coordinator for the Esks. The man usually in charge of everything Aquila was nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately the brilliantly talented Don Metz was ill and in the hospital. Only good thoughts for Don and a speedy recovery! You would have been proud of your team, in particular Glenn Wiun. A tip of the hat to everyone involved in an unforgettable weekend recognizing the CFHOF Class of 2013. ' ' '
