In the bottom of the first, after the Desert Dogs allowed two runs, Basabe blooped a single to open up the inning, and stole second. He would come around to score, and Glendale would tack on one more run to tie the game.Unfortunately, the offense for Basabe, and both teams Mark McGwire Jersey , halted after the first inning. Basabe, though he made contact in the three at-bats in that span, he recorded outs every time. It was not until the eighth inning that Glendale was able to snap the tie, taking a 4-2 lead. (Basabe would strike out later in the inning, however.)Going into the ninth, Thompson tried to close out a Desert Dogs win — and earn his third save of the fall — and he did just that, with a shutout inning. With this win, Glendale finishes its season at 12-18. BALTIMORE — The Oakland Athletics are continuing their surge to the postseason at the expense of the Baltimore Orioles. The Athletics beat the Orioles 10-0 on Wednesday night to extend their winning streak to six games and will try to complete the sweep at Camden Yards.Oakland is 34-15 since the All-Star break, the best mark in the majors during that span. The Athletics hold the second American League wild-card spot behind the New York Yankees, but are pushing to take the lead.The Athletics have won all five games against Baltimore this season.
