She adds that in addition to meeting application requirements, gaining veterinary experience will help you understand if you are truly dedicated to this field before you invest a large amount of money in education.

Once you start the veterinary school, you will likely spend the first three years of studying on campus and spend your final year in clinical courses. Near the end of your education, you will pass the North American Veterinary License (NAVLE), a test of 360 questions that must be passed for practice. After NAVLE, you may also need to complete an additional license test depending on where you intend to train.
