Here are the men who will be available starting today in Arlington Cam Bedrosian Jersey , Texas."There are no real surprises here; the Cubs had pretty much made clear who was going to be on the 25-man Opening Day roster several days ago when it was announced who was being sent down or back to the minor-league camp. Here it is, now, though, officially in print from the Cubs:You’ll note the four pitchers beinning the season on the injured list. Brandon Morrow is expected back by late April or early May. There’s no timetable for Xavier Cedeno or Tony Barnette, and Kendall Graveman won’t be back until at least August. It’s a familiar group. Just seven of these players weren’t on the Cubs’ Opening Day roster last year: Brad Brach, Cole Hamels, Randy Rosario, Brandon Kintzler, Daniel Descalso, David Bote and Mark Zagunis, and of those seven only Brach and Descalso didn’t play for the Cubs at all in 2018.Anthony Rizzo is the senior Cub in length of service for the team. 2019 will be his eighth year with the Cubs, and it hardly seems like it could be that long http://www.angelsfanproshop.com/authentic-zack-cozart-jersey , right? This is the first Opening Day roster assignment for Mark Zagunis.Ready for baseball? I am! Here is the Opening Day lineup: A former high school point guard, Zeferjahn has a quiet delivery, power and a legit three-pitch arsenal at present."Measureables: Height: 6’4”Weight: 216 lbs. Bats/Throws: R/RClass: 4YR Jr. Player Summary: The list of Kansas Jayhawks to get major league action isn’t a long one. The three recent examples are all journeyman pitchers- middle relievers Sam Freeman of the Braves and Mike Zagurski of the Brewers are the two active alumni, and the underrated Tom Gorzelanny enjoyed a strong career through the 2000s and early 2010s after pitching with the Jayhawks. Their current ace, Ryan Zeferjahn, is well on his way to besting the draft positions of all three, and has the potential to outperform each of his predecessors in the majors should he reach his ceiling. A local kid out of Topeka Seaman high school, Zeferjahn was a standout on the hardwood in his early days. Zeferjahn said in an interview with the university newspaper that, while his 6’4” size was ideal for a guard spot, his game was more reminiscent of a big man, sealing his choice to pursue baseball long-term. In the same piece, his high school coaches praised his work ethic and coachability. His basketball background shows on the diamond Blake Parker Jersey , where Zeferjahn displays an athletic delivery that helps him control his stuff. Zeferjahn has a strong, lean build and involves his lower half to great effect when delivering the baseball, allowing him to reach the mid-to-high 90s with his heater. His fastball command is quite strong at present, and he backs up the offering with two promising offspeed pitches. His breaking ball is another strength, as it flashes plus with a heavy, vertical break. The breaker has been an outstanding weapon at the college level, missing bats frequently, though I would like to see him drop it in for strikes more often. Though the fastball/curveball combination is his bread and butter, Zeferjahn also shows potential with his changeup. Coming in with similar velocity to his breaking ball, the change shows great fade and projects as a significant part of Zeferjahn’s arsenal at the next level. Despite some wobbles, the stuff has largely played beautifully for Zeferjahn in his first two years in the Big XII. After a shaky freshman campaign in which he struck out a batter per inning but also walked 35 in 52.1 innings and yielded 6.19 earned runs per nine, Zeferjahn participated in the 2017 CCBL season where he gave his stock a shot in the arm as a reliever. In 15 frames across 13 appearances http://www.angelsfanproshop.com/authentic-zack-cozart-jersey , Zeferjahn struck out 20 against nine walks and allowed just four runs, saving six games. Building on that success, Zeferjahn rejoined the Jayhawks’ rotation as a sophomore and largely dominated outside of a 10-runs allowed performance against Oklahoma State. Even with that hiccup, Zeferjahn managed a respectable 4.48 ERA in 80 innings pitched, and struck out a whopping 100 batters against 39 walks. His college statistics tell the same story that his game tape does- Zeferjahn has a formidable arsenal, and is difficult to square up, but will need to make strides with his command to be a successful pro starter. While Zeferjahn’s walk rate is alarming, his smooth, athletic delivery should allow him to make the necessary strides to succeed as a starter at the pro level. Zeferjahn already spots his fastball fairly well, and his offspeed stuff has consistent shape. Where Zeferjahn needs improvement is in spotting his offspeed offerings, which act more as chase pitches at present. When he is able to more effectively locate the curveball, he should be a much more efficient hurler without sacrificing his plus bat-missing ability. Given his mechanics and athleticism Justin Verlander Jersey , I am bullish on Zeferjahn’s chances to improve his location. The Jayhawks ace is sure to check a lot of boxes for pro scouts, with his multi-sport background, ideal build and premium velocity. Assuming he continues to improve at a similar rate, Zeferjahn has the potential to slot into the front half of a major league rotation with a #2 starter ceiling. He will need to make significant strides with his command to reach that territory, but the raw ability is all there. Should his command fail to come together, Zeferjahn has the kind of arm that could translate well to a bullpen role, which will be a minor consideration for pro clubs. Projected Draft RoundCurrently, Zeferjahn slots into the back half of the top 50 for most outlets. If he shows improved command in 2019, he could solidify his first-round projection, or begin to look more like a late day 1/early day 2 upside play. Does he fit with Houston? The Astros current front office hasn’t hesitated to pop college pitchers in Zeferjahn’s range, and his true three pitch arsenal and bat missing ability should appeal to their preferences.
