Both franchises had recently returned to the city of Los Angeles, a city they each had called home at another point in their respective history’s. Both teams had just hired first time head coaches, coming off seasons where neither won more than five games. Both squads solved their problem at left tackle, locking up Andrew Whitworth and Russell Okung. Both teams franchise tagged defensive bookends in Trumaine Johnson and Melvin Ingram. Both even had starting first-round running backs from the same draft class that still can’t outperform their backups. It appeared that the city of Los Angeles had acquired two teams moving in the right direction Chargers Customized Color Rush Jerseys , but still full of as many questions as answers. The “Fight for LA” felt more like a media-driven facade that would take years to come to fruition than a premier battle of league heavyweights. Sure, the first joint practice concluded with actual fighting: but all signs pointed to this race being more of a marathon than a sprint. Welp.Flash forward to the present day, and while the tortoise has made up significant ground, the hare is crossing the finish line. After starting their career 3-6, the Chargers under Anthony Lynn have impressively won 19 of their last 25 games. The only problem is the Rams under Sean Mcvay have gone 26-9, with 2 playoff wins and a Coach of the year award already to his name. The hare hasn’t stopped sprinting since the starting gun sounded. And that’s okay, because the Rams success does not hinder the Chargers Chargers T-Shirts , nor should it be viewed as negative. The City of LAThe Rams playing in the Super Bowl is huge for the city of Los Angeles and its interest in football. LA is a different beast of a market to break into. A city that has nine other professional sports teams to cheer for has never really needed a football team, let alone two. Per ESPN, the 2017 and 2018 Rams had the 31st ranked home attendance by capacity. While the Chargers data is largely skewed due to playing in a 20,000-seat soccer stadium, they by far had the lowest home attendance by number of people in those years. The mocking of the Chargers home stadium situation is just; however, the Rams aren’t even keeping up with the Cleveland Browns in terms of attendance. Rams Success is Chargers SuccessNot only are the Rams setting a benchmark for the Chargers to strive for, their success amplifies the current rivalry of the two teams. In fact https://www.chargersfanstore.com/hats , one could even argue the Rams being bad as an even worse scenario.LA is a city of entertainment, bright lights, and story lines. The people of Los Angeles need a Yankees vs Red Sox style rivalry in their own backyard to get excited about football. In an interview with NBC Sports, Melvin Gordon stated that he “needed the Rams to lose.” Instead of rooting for the Rams to fail, realize that The Chargers are in the news on Super Bowl weekend because of the Rams. The media cares about what the third best running back on the Chargers has to say on Super Bowl weekend, and that is easily the most important takeaway from all of this.If the Rams win Super Bowl 53, the Chargers will have their work cut out for them in claiming an LA fan-base Chargers Hoodie , but at least there will be a fan base to claim. It’s not surprising to see the Chargers sending representation to the local pro days to find some homegrown talent, much like last year when they snagged LB Uchenna Nwosu from USC and C/G Scott..."It’s not surprising to see the Chargers sending representation to the local pro days to find some homegrown talent, much like last year when they snagged LB Uchenna Nwosu from USC and C/G Scott Quessenberry from UCLA.Today it looks like the team is back at USC with a little help from Nwosu, likely doing what he can to help court some of the Trojan players. The Trojans don’t have a ton of high-profile draft prospects this year but there are some interesting mid-round picks that could potentially turn into some future starters.Middle linebacker Cameron Smith showed some explosiveness at the combine by posting a 39-inch vertical on top of a 4.69 forty. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 238 pounds, Smith does more than enough to fit the mold of the modern linebacker. In 2018, he only played in nine games due to injury, but he still collected 81 tackles with 7.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack.In my recent 7-round mock Doug Flutie Color Rush Jersey , I took offensive tackle Chuma Edoga in the fourth round. The guy is athletic and ran a 5.19 forty after weighing in at 308 pounds in Indy (he played closer to 295 during the season). He would excel in a power run scheme like the Chargers’ with his ability to get out in space and erase defenders outside the hashes.Other Trojan players worth a possible late-day flier would be outside linebacker/edge rusher Porter Gustin (6-4 255), safety Marvell Tell (6-2 195), and cornerback Iman Marshall (6-0 205).

e corner Kyle Lauletta Color Rush Jersey , which may make it feel like your start/sit decisions are live or die. But remember if you got this far into the season and you’re in the playoff hunt, you’ve been doing something right. Don’t change your process just because you feel like you need some extra help. Go with what got you here in the first place. With that, here’s this week’s start/sit:Running backStart: Alex Collins, Baltimore RavensCollins is probably going to have a new starting quarterback one way or another. So whether it’s Lamar Jackson (please) or Robert Griffin III, there’s going to be an added emphasis on the run game and with a mobile quarterback some read option plays could open up with bigger running lanes. Meanwhile, Cincinnati has given up the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.Start: Dion Lewis, Tennessee TitansLewis is now the guy in Tennessee. After splitting time with Derrick Henry, the Titans have realized the more meaningful snaps should go to Lewis. He has 10 carries inside the 10-yard line over the past two games after eight in the previous seven games. He also had three carries inside the 10 after four in the previous seven weeks. That doesn’t even count receiving, where he has a touchdown inside the red zone Lewis has been on the field for 84 percent and 75 percent of Tennessee’s offensive snaps over the past two weeks. There should continue to be reliable volume there in a close game in Indianapolis.Sit: T.J. Yeldon, Jacksonville JaguarsLeonard Fournette came back from injury last week and was immediately put back in the Leonard Fournette role. He only played 52 percent of the snaps, but was almost exclusively the rushing offense — 24 of Jacksonville’s 32 non-QB runs. Yeldon only had three carries but did have six targets and 51 yards through the air. That passing game volume is just iffy to commit to, even if the Jaguars should trail often against the Steelers.Sit: Adrian Peterson, WashingtonIf Washington is ahead, Peterson gets all the carries. If Washington is behind, he gets phased out of the offense. That’s basically been Adrian Peterson’s season so far in 2018. He followed up his 26/149 day against the Giants with 9/17 against Atlanta and 19/68 in a slog against Tampa Bay. Houston has a big play offense and a good run defense Alec Ogletree Color Rush Jersey , so Peterson might not get many opportunities this week.Wide receiverStart: John Brown, Baltimore RavensA new quarterback could have worse effects for the receiver than the running backs as mentioned above, but Brown has been so good this season, if that quarterback is going to throw the ball, it’s hard to imagine Brown isn’t going to be the guy who gets targeted. Both Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin have excellent deep balls, so that shouldn’t cut out Brown’s role in the offense, especially against a defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.Start: Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati BengalsWith A.J. Green out, Boyd is Cincinnati’s top receiver. He only had four targets against New Orleans, but he should be able to be a bigger part of an offense that’s not just throwing to throw in a blowout. Boyd has two games this season with at least 10 targets and those went for 132 and 138 yards, each with a touchdown. In the first meeting with Baltimore earlier this season, Boyd put up six catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.[Sunday morning update: A.J. Green made the trip and will workout pregame, according to Adam Schefter, but his status is still unknown. Whether Green plays or not, Boyd should still be a safe start.]Sit: Nelson Agholor Jonathan Stewart Color Rush Jersey , Philadelphia EaglesAgholor had five catches on seven targets for 83 yards against Dallas, which was still a significant role in Golden Tate’s Eagles debut. But Tate only played on 29 percent of the offensive snaps and it’s likely he’ll continue to see his role increased. That role happens to be similar to Agholor’s in the offense, so unless the Eagles are going to run a super spread offense more often, Tate’s inclusion will probably chip away at Agholor’s opportunity.Sit: Calvin Ridley, Atlanta FalconsAtlanta figuring out how to get Julio Jones in the end zone has been fun for many, but it has cut down on Calvin Ridley’s fantasy output. Ridley had a stretch for Week 2 to Week 4 with four targets and four touchdowns inside the red zone. But Ridley has not seen a target inside the 20 since. Most of his scoring was coming from those red zone opportunities and they just haven’t been there in over a month. He’ll also be up against a Dallas defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game this season.Tight endStart: Evan Engram, New York GiantsIf Engram was going to have a 2018 breakout game, one against Tampa Bay should be it. The Giants went heavy to Engram when it mattered against San Francisco — four of his five targets were on the final game-winning drive — so that could be a precursor to a larger role against a defense that hasn’t been able to slow tight ends all season. No team has allowed more receiving yards to opposing tight ends than Tampa Bay and only one has allowed more fantasy points per game.Sit: Eric Ebron, Indianapolis ColtsEbron has turned into a touchdown machine, but in order for him to be fantasy relevant, those touchdowns have to come. For the most part, they have, but that might be a different story against a Tennessee defense that has yet to allow a touchdown to an opposing tight end. New York Giants coordinators speak to media once each week. Let’s look at some of the things each coordinator spoke about this week.Defensive coordinator James BettcherThe Giants gave up 510 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and were still victorious because they created four turnovers, including scoring on one.“The most important stat in the game is the number of turnovers, and that’s been one of the most telling stories to winning percentages is the turnover margin. Also Ray-Ray Armstrong Color Rush Jersey , just defensively, the number of turnovers you create, whether it’s two, there’s a 10-year winning percentage when you create two, there’s a 10-year winning percentage when you create three. Then when you score on defense, there’s a winning percentage, and those things just don’t lie,” Bettcher said. “I don’t think any of us want to give up 500 yards like we did this last week, or give up 50 points, but at the end of the day, creating turnovers, creating field position, getting some fourth down stops, like we did in the game, and finding a way to get the ball into the end zone on defense is important https://www.giantsfanshop.com , especially with the way offenses are playing right now.”Offensive coordinator Mike ShulaOn why the team’s offense has gotten better ...“I just think everybody’s getting better. Guys are more comfortable with what they’re doing, guys are more comfortable with the guy next to him and when the play is called, there’s maybe a little less thinking about it, a little more reacting to the defense. That’s our goal each and every week, is not to have our guys thinking. We just want them where they know it so well they’re just reacting to what they’re seeing in front of them and playing fast.”Special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey On improvement by placekicker Aldrick Rosas ...“I wouldn’t say it was a ton of coaching up, I would say more of maturation. He learned from his mistakes last year. He learned the things he did right, and he learned the things he did wrong. I think just going through that process has made him better. Obviously we know we’re all going to fail our way to success, so he made a lot of mistakes last year, so now he’s just building upon the things that he did well and then learning from the things that he didn’t do so well. It was less coaching, more of maturity. We did some things with him coaching wise, just a few tweaks here or there, but he’s just growing up and getting better every week.”
SANTA CLARA https://www.49ersfanshop.com/Marquise-Goodwin-Jersey , Calif. (AP) —he NFC West together last year as longtime friends and colleagues tasked with revitalizing struggling franchises.McVay has done a much quicker job overhauling the Los Angeles Rams than Shanahan has with the San Francisco 49ers. The teams headed in opposite directions meet for the first time this season on Sunday when the Rams (6-0) hope to remain the NFL’s only unbeaten team when they visit the struggling 49ers (1-5).McVay credits Shanahan for his success, pointing to his four years as an assistant in Washington when Shanahan was offensive coordinator for much of his development.“I wouldn’t really say it was a give and take,” McVay said. “It was more me taking information from him, and him a lot of giving. I think more than anything, just being committed to an identity. The way he prepared was so impressive. The way that he saw the game. His ability to make things look the same and attack defensive structures and rules and manipulate those. He’s a great coach. I learned so much from him.”That knowledge has helped McVay build one of the NFL’s top teams with a dynamic offense led by quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley that ranks third in scoring (32.7 points per game) and second in yards per play (7.16) after winning the NFC West last season. The Niners haven’t had nearly as much success, winning just six games last year and struggling mightily this year after quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 3.San Francisco showed glimpses of becoming what Shanahan envisioned with five straight wins to end last season with Garoppolo at quarterback, but the team has a 1-13 record under Shanahan when either Brian Hoyer or C.J. Beathard starts.Beathard has shown improvement in his second year, leading San Francisco to back-to-back 400-yard games, but his seven turnovers in three starts contributed to the losses. While the results have been different and the teams take slightly divergent approaches — the Rams preferring three-receiver sets and the 49ers relying more on a two-back offense with fullback Kyle Juszczyk — both coaches have taken what they did together in Washington to their current teams.“He’s a good coach and a real good friend. We got to put a lot of that stuff in together,” Shanahan said. “Just like you do everywhere and everyone you work with, you’re always a product of your environment. You carry things over, you change a few things. We’ve both gone some different directions over the last few years, but when you do turn on the tape it’s very similar.”Here are some other things to watch:TAKE THE TOP OFFHaving a healthy Marquise Goodwin last week provided a big boost to San Francisco’s offense. He made four catches for 126 yards, including touchdowns of 67 and 30 yards in the first half. Perhaps even more importantly, his sprinter’s speed forces defenses to provide help in coverage, opening up holes in the running game and opportunities for other receivers.“Guys are respecting his speed, and you’ve got to respect his speed,” Beathard said. “He can take the tops off of coverages, so it definitely helps having him out there.”GOOD GURLEYGurley is off to a scintillating start with 870 yards from scrimmage and 11 TDs through six games. Since the merger in 1970, only two other players have reached those marks in six games: Priest Holmes for Kansas City in 2002 Joe Staley Jersey , Emmitt Smith for Dallas in 1995. Gurley ran for 208 yards and two TDs last week in Denver. Gurley had 149 yards from scrimmage and three TDs in his only game against the Niners last year.RUN TO DAYLIGHTRaheem Mostert had just 13 carries since entering the NFL in 2015 before having a breakthrough performance last week for the 49ers. Mostert carried 12 times for 87 yards at Green Bay, forming a potent rushing duo with Matt Breida. San Francisco ranks third in rushing with 142.5 yards per game and a 5.12 average per carry.FAMILY AFFAIRThe 49ers are hosting alumni weekend and will be wearing 1994 throwback jerseys to honor their last Super Bowl championship team. That team means a lot to McVay, whose grandfather, John, helped build the 49ers dynasty as general manager. Sean McVay listed several of his favorite players from that era, including Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Dexter Carter and Merton Hanks. He also said he had a Deion Sanders jersey from that 1994 season.“It’s always weird going against them,” he said. “But you feel so fortunate just to have the family history my grandpa established and developed.” This might make trading difficult."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections 49ers Salary CapLevi’s Stadium Events49ers Transactions49ers Injury News49ers Press Conferences & Conference Calls2019 NFL Draft: 49ers picks, mock drafts, news, rumors, analysisWhat does the Giants disinterest in Dwayne Haskins mean for the 49ers? New,210commentsThis might make trading difficult. PDTShareTweetShareShareWhat does the Giants disinterest in Dwayne Haskins mean for the 49ers? Mock drafts have been following a strange formula. At No. 1, it’s the Cardinals taking Kyler Murray. No. 2-5 is the trio of Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen, and Nick Bosa getting taken off the board along with someone else to fill that slate. No. 6 has been somewhat consistent with the Giants taking Dwayne Haskins. Last week, there were numerous reports that the Giants were not interested in Haskins and weren’t going to be doing much work. On ESPN’s Breaking Big Blue podcast, Dianna Russini went into detail on how quarterback may not be in the Giants’ plans: So what does this mean? Well it might make trading, at least for Haskins Solomon Thomas Color Rush Jersey , not happening at No. 2. The Giants were the ones many thought would put up the draft capitol to go get Haskins at No. 2, leapfrogging the Oakland Raiders. If the Giants aren’t interested in Haskins, that leaves him for the Raiders and eliminates the two-way bidding war to get him. At No. 7, behind the Giants,is the Jacksonville Jaguars. They will need a quarterback, but they signed Nick Foles and won’t be wanting to do a trade this year for one. Then there’s the Denver Broncos at 10, the Cincinnati Bengals at 11 and Miami Dolphins at 13. Of those three, the Dolphins would be the ones to really make an investment, but to trade all the way down to the No. 2 spot for a quarterback is going to take an awful lot. Plus, now that the Giants have two draft picks and aren’t looking at Haskins, that makes them a more valuable trade partner. 13 to 2 is much more expensive than 13 to 6. If the Raiders show any interest in a quarterback and the Dolphins want Haskins, then the No. 2 trade becomes a possibility, but it won’t be cheap and Haskins is a player highly unlikely to command that kind of deal. These three teams may be battling it out for someone else besides Dwayne Haskins. The Broncos have been linked to quarterbacks and other teams could go into No. 8 or 9 to keep John Elway from getting his QB of the future. Any way you look at it, if the Giants don’t take Haskins it’s going to make any team in the teens think twice about offloading draft picks to pass the Raiders. That is assuming the Raiders want Haskins at all. All of this is dependent on the Cardinals going with Murray. If they pass on him, the Giants and Raiders could then maybe pounce for No. 2, but if they weren’t going to get to No. 1 for him, one spot doesn’t seem like much of a difference in this scenario. So unless someone reaaaaaaaallllly wants Bosa, the 49ers might not be able to get out of the No. 2 pick.

Laser pointers can cause eye injuries and could easily distract a player during a game, but Brady did not appear to notice it.The Chiefs used the video and witness accounts to identify the fan, who has been banned for life from Arrowhead Stadium. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at an NFL game. During a 2014 Bills-Lions game in Detroit, Buffalo players complained that a Lions fan had been shining a laser pointer at them. The fan was found and eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, paid a $235 fine and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service. That fan was a guest of a season ticket holder, and the Lions revoked his season tickets. OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Tyreek Hill streaking downfield for big receptions from Patrick Mahomes figured to be a major part of Kansas City’s passing offense this year. The Raiders were counting on technician Antonio Brown to get open on intermediate and deep balls to provide a needed spark in Oakland. When these two AFC West rivals meet Sunday in the second game of the season in Oakland, they both will need to figure out how to thrive without their most dangerous receiving options.Article continues below ...“I’m big on next guy up Carlos Hyde Jersey ,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We’ve done that over the years and so I expect the next guys to step up and play. Nobody is alike, but most of the guys at this level have strengths, and so you play to their strengths and then you keep coaching them and teaching them to make their things that maybe they’re not as strong better. But when you are putting your game plan together, you play to your strengths.”Hill was sidelined by a broken collarbone in a season-opening 40-26 win at Jacksonville. Sammy Watkins stepped up to fill that void last week with nine catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns.Second-round pick Mecole Hardman also figures to carry a heavier load this week. The Raiders did just fine in last week’s 24-16 win over Denver two days after releasing Brown following weeks of turmoil and missed practices.Tyrell Williams had six catches for 105 yards and a touchdown, showing he has the skills to be the No. 1 receiver the Raiders thought he could be when they made him their top target in free agency even before making the trade for Brown.“It’s definitely an opportunity I’ve been excited for,” Williams said. “My second year in the league when Keenan Allen had gotten hurt, I kind of was the No. 1 receiver that year (for the Chargers). I kind of just went unnoticed I guess. Just getting this opportunity and being able to showcase this is exciting.”Tight end Darren Waller, whose career has been hampered by substance abuse issues, had seven catches for 70 yards and proved to be a matchup nightmare for Denver’s defense. Here are some other things to watch:WORKHORSE BACKOne of the big questions surrounding running back Josh Jacobs after the Raiders drafted him 24th overall was how he’d handle the load of a featured back in the NFL after being a part-time player at Alabama. Jacobs had more than 15 carries in a game just twice in college but raced past that mark in his NFL debut when he ran 23 times for 85 yards and two TDs andcaught a 28-yard pass. He became the first player since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2001 to gain at least 100 yards from scrimmage and score two rushing touchdowns in his debut.“It was just something to show durability Tyrann Mathieu Jersey ,” he said. “That I can take 20 carries a game and still come out and be full.”OPPORTUNISTIC DSince Reid took over as coach in Kansas City in 2013, the Chiefs lead the NFL with 26 defensive touchdowns. No opponent has been victimized more than the Raiders, who have given up four of those scores, including two thrown by Derek Carr in 2015 and last season. Carr has thrown nine career interceptions against the Chiefs, his most against any opponent.BLIND SIDEThe Raiders saw big improvement from second-year left tackle Kolton Miller in the opener. After allowing an NFL-worst 14 sacks as a rookie, according to Sports Info Solutions, Miller completely shut down Denver’s Bradley Chubb last week. He gets another tough test this week against Frank Clark, who had 2 1/2 sacks against Oakland last year when he was with Seattle and faced Miller on a gimpy knee.“He’s just stronger, he’s more experienced Damien Williams Jersey , he’s healthy,” coach Jon Gruden said. “Those are three things that have taken his game to another level and he’s got to continue to prove it every week.”END OF ERAThis game could be the final one played with infield dirt across the field. What once was a common sight in the era of multipurpose stadiums is now almost a relic as the Coliseum is the only remaining stadium used by NFL and baseball teams. The Raiders’ next scheduled game in Oakland isn’t until Nov. 3, after the end of the World Series, so the dirt will be gone for the final five home games of the season; they have a home game in London. The Raiders are set to move to Las Vegas next season, where dirt won’t be an issue.“It hurts. It hurts tackling and falling on that dirt,” Raiders safety Karl Joseph said. “But that’s part of who we are, the Raiders. I don’t think I’ll miss falling on that dirt too much.
g my opinion regarding the future of Jared Goff in L.A. Some think I’ve said that the Rams are destined to dump him for another quarterback. The truth is significantly more nuanced than that. And the nuances regarding Goff’s future with the team are becoming more complex Rob Havenstein Jersey , as the team goes out of its way to shoot down the notion that Goff may not be the long-term answer.Beyond comments made by McVay earlier this week to reporters, he sat down with Fred Roggin of NBC’s L.A. affiliate, and responded to this remark which, if I’m the pundit to whom Roggin is referring, misstates the theory: “I don’t know how often you check online and care what the pundits say. One suggested that, you know, the thing about Jared Goff is there will be a point in time when you’re just going to get rid of him because you’re gonna bring somebody in here who’s younger who will be your kind of guy. Now to me I thought that was insane . . . because you’ve developed him into one of the top quarterbacks in the game.”The point isn’t that McVay will simply cut the cord on Goff and find someone else. The point is that, as the top of the quarterback market continues to climb and climb and climb (in less than two years Authentic David Edwards Jersey , it’s gone from $25 million per year to $35 million per year), someone eventually will say “no” to the demands of a quarterback who values himself more than the team values him. And until Goff signs a long-term deal, he could be the guy who demands too much, prompting the team to choose to spend less for someone whom Sean McVay can develop into “one of the top quarterbacks in the game,” the same way he has developed Goff.McVay’s effort to boost Goff in the face of Roggin’s misstated (if he’s talking about my theory) notion that the Rams will just summarily drop Goff actually could contribute to an eventual scenario where Goff does indeed ask for more than the Rams will pay, because McVay’s praise of Goff will do little to dissuade agent Ryan Tollner from trying to make Goff the highest-paid player in NFL history whenever the Rams decide to open talks with Goff.“He’s developed himself into [one of the top quarterbacks in the game],” McVay said, “and you know we’ve been able to work very well together over the last couple years. I can assure you David Edwards Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , that is not going to happen. He ain’t going anywhere. And he’s just continuing to get better. He’s coachable. He’s got an elite mental toughness. An extreme security in himself that doesn’t ride the wave of the inevitable ups and downs that you face as a quarterback. You look at the way that his teammates respond to him here. And he’s just getting better and better. McVay also may be simply pumping up his guy, mindful of the reality that, in order to get the most out of a quarterback, the coach must zealously defend and promote him to anyone and everyone.Regardless, Tollner will print Goff’s assessment and laminate it for use in the negotiations with Rams COO Kevin Demoff, who will have to deal with McVay’s words when trying to peg a value for Goff’s contract. So the point I previously made still applies. There has been speculation they’re shopping DeVante Parker, but Gase said he expects the injury-prone receiver to remain with Miami. As for Tannehill, progress is coming slowly. He has missed the past three games, including Thursday’s 42-23 loss at Houston.“He’s making steps where he’s in a position where he can throw a football,” Gase said. “We’re gaining strength in that area. We’ll see more the next two days, when he does get a chance to throw, how sore he is the next day or how much power he feels like he has.”Tannehill is expected to take part in the Dolphins’ next practice Wednesday but may be limited http://www.thedolphinslockerroom.com/authentic-mark-clayton-jersey , as was the case last week. If Tannehill is ruled out against the Jets, Brock Osweiler will make his fourth consecutive start.Tannehill has a reputation for playing through pain, and Gase acknowledged a concern his quarterback won’t be candid about how his shoulder feels.“I told him, ‘You have to be honest with me,'” Gase said.” He understands if he gives me wrong information, that can make it worse. I’d like to stay healthy from here on out — I don’t think we have much more room for losing guys for the year. I think we’ve maxed out on that. But for the most part, I feel we have the right guys.” Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, four days into the job, is building his coaching staff, with an interesting name starting to pop up around the club. After appearing to be headed for the defensive coordinator position with the Cincinnati Bengals, former Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers head coach Dom Capers could be in line for a consulting position with the Dolphins, according to SiriusXM NFL Radio’s Alex Marvez. Capers reportedly declined the Bengals offer. If Capers were to join the Dolphins, it would be his second stint in South Florida; Capers was a special assistant to head coach Nick Saban in 2006 then the defensive coordinator in 2007. Capers has plenty of coaching experience, starting as a Kent State graduate assistant in 1972, then holding various defensive coaching positions at Washington, Hawaii Jordan Phillips Jersey , San Jose State, California, and Ohio State. He moved into the professional ranks in 1984 with the USFL’s Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars, working with the club for two years. In 1986, he moved to the NFL, joining the New Orleans Saints as a defensive backs coach before a move in 1992 to the Pittsburgh Steelers as their defensive coordinator. His first head coaching position came in 1995 when the Panthers made him their first head coach. He was selected as the NFL’s Coach of the Year in 1996. In 1999, Capers served as the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator before being hired in 2002 as the Texans first head coach. After his 2006 and 2007 seasons with Miami, Capers was a special assistant and secondary coach for the New England Patriots in 2008 before sending 2009 through 2017 with the Green Bay Packers as their defensive coordinator. In an advisory role with the Dolphins, Capers would advise first-time head coach Flores as well as first-time defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. The Jacksonville Jaguars are also expected to pursue Capers.
EAGAN Irv Smith Jersey Mens , Minn. —rtance of running back Dalvin Cook to the Minnesota Vikings, so the coach is taking the cautious approach to Cook’s workload during the preseason. The advantage is two-fold: Cook stays fresh and injury-free, while the Vikings get a long look at a quartet of players who are trying to seize a vital spot as Cook’s backup this season.More Vikings coveragePreview: Cook, Vikings look to keep rolling vs. PackersTop Tweets: Vikings prepare for Packers with TMNT hype videoBarr, seasoned Vikings defense off to strong startNew offense, same Rodgers: Vikings prep for LaFleur’s PackersVikings re-sign center Jones, waive rookie TE DillonAmeer Abdullah is the veteran of the group, entering just his fifth NFL season. The Vikings drafted Alexander Mattison in the third round this year, and Mike Boone has been a preseason standout. The fourth option, De’Angelo Henderson, signed on July 24 after being waived by the New York Jets.“I think the key with Matt and Abdulllah and those guys, they’ve got to have a role on the football team,” offensive adviser and assistant head coach Gary Kubiak said.“When Dalvin steps out of the game or takes his break Irv Smith Jersey nfl draft , we have to continue to go. We can’t be, ‘OK, let’s survive till Dalvin gets back.’ We keep going forward.”Zimmer, who was mum on whether Cook would play Sunday against Seattle, and Kubiak had reason to be encouraged with the performance in the first preseason game last week at New Orleans. The team rushed for 213 yards, a single-game total the Vikings topped only once last season.Boone had four carries for 70 yards, including a late 64-yard touchdown run. Abdullah ran the ball four times for 63 yards, including a 42-yard run. Henderson added seven rushes for 42 yards. Then there was Mattison, who had nine carries for 30 yards and caught a touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins as the first-team offense scored on its only possession.“I’ll try to say this the correct way,” Zimmer said, before pausing. “I think Mattison has got a really bright future. I think the other two guys can help in change-of-pace situations. … I think we feel like they all can run, they’re all smart enough to run the offense and things like that, but it will come down to third downs and those areas.”Abdullah doubles as the top option on the current depth chart as the kickoff and punt returner. Mattison was drafted out of Boise State after he was second in the FBS in carries last season and rushed for 1 Everson Griffen Jersey ,415 yards and 17 touchdowns.“I’m not the person to ever be satisfied, so I know there’s a lot more, way more that I could be on top of,” Mattison said of learning the playbook. “But I’m definitely starting to get comfortable with the base stuff and starting to branch out into different things. Just trying to work at it every day.”The four players will look to fill a role as the complement to Cook and replace Latavius Murray, who signed with New Orleans after rushing for 578 yards and six touchdowns while starting six games last season.Cook ran for 615 yards and two touchdowns with a 4.6-yard average. He added 40 receptions for 305 yards and two touchdowns. But he also missed five games with a hamstring injury, after his rookie year in 2017 was cut short by an ACL tear.Zimmer hasn’t been shy about voicing his desire to run the ball more, after Minnesota ranked 30th in the NFL in rushing last season. The Vikings averaged 93.3 yards per game and were 27th in the league in attempts.“They’re not all going to be explosive runs, but the idea of sticking with it and having that mindset that we’re going to pop one of these in there eventually,” Zimmer said. On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings released their second injury report of the week, and all they had to do was change the date on it.That’s because nobody’s status changed from Thursday to Friday as far as practice participation is concerned. Let’s review what that report was.Did not participate: WR Chad Beebe (hamstring), LB Eric Kendricks (rib), TE David Morgan (knee) Anthony Barr Jersey , CB Trae Waynes (concussion)Limited participation: WR Stefon Diggs (knee)Full participation: G Mike Remmers (low back), CB Xavier Rhodes (hamstring), WR Brandon Zylstra (foot)Waynes and Kendricks both missed their second consecutive practice, which means that they need to call Kenny Loggins, because they’re in the danger zone. At least as far as playing on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks, anyway. However, head coach Mike Zimmer seems to be optimistic about their chances of playing.I would have to think that’s a little trickier for Waynes, given the nature of concussions, than it would be for Kendricks. As we pointed out on the initial injury report from yesterday, this is Waynes’ second concussion of the year, so the odds of him playing on Monday wouldn’t seem to be that good. We’ll have to see how things shake out after Saturday’s practice, when I assume that Waynes will have another chance to clear concussion protocol.

They finished the regular season ranked 8th in points allowed and 9th in yards allowed. It is a unit that played extremely well three weeks ago, holding the league’s best offense to only 28 points, but also a unit that struggled two weeks ago against the Ravens’ running attack. As they head to Baltimore this weekend seeking revenge, let’s take a look at how they got here. The 2018 season started out promising for the Chargers’ defense. During free agency, they were able to extend Casey Hayward’s contract. This ensured that the Chargers would have the self-proclaimed best corner in the league roaming their backfield without any looming contract negotiations. With Jason Verrett scheduled to return from injury and Trevor Williams expected to follow up on a stellar 2017 campaign, the Chargers looked deadly at cornerback. The Chargers received their first bit of bad news two weeks later when it was announced that Corey Liuget had tested positive for illegal substance use. The Chargers would have to spend the first 4 weeks of the season without one of their starting interior lineman, a position that was a concern for them as they had struggled to defend against the run in 2017.The draft brought a windfall of top prospects for the defense. The Chargers used their first 4 selections to bolster the defensive side of the ball. Their first pick was a dream come true as Derwin James fell to number 17.The Chargers wasted no time in making the selection, and Derwin has wasted no time in sending a message to the NFL that it was wrong to overlook him.Uchenna Nwosu was taken with the second selection and was expected to make the switch from defensive end to OTTO linebacker in Bradley’s 4-3 scheme. The Chargers’ next selection was Justin Jones: a defensive tackle that could help bolster the Chargers’ weak defensive interior line. With the fourth selection came Kyzir White, a safety that was expected to transition to linebacker. With James set to replace Boston and White and Nwosu set to shore up a weak linebacker unit, the Chargers’ defense looked poised to dominate in 2018.It was not long before the injury bug visited the Chargers, and Verrett was lost for the season. The next victim was Joey Bosa.It was first diagnosed as a minor foot injury, and Bosa was expected to be ready for the first regular season game. However, the injury lingered. After more evaluation, it was evident that Bosa was going to be out much longer. At the beginning of the season, it became clear that the Chargers’ defensive outlook was not as cheery as it was on draft night. Isaac Rochell, who had been tagged to fill in for Joey Bosa, was struggling at defensive end.Nwosu was struggling in pass protection, and Gus Bradley’s 4-3 set looked to be in trouble. It was not all bad though. Kyzir White and Derwin James were exceeding expectations, and Desmond King was continuing to make plays like he did in 2017. The play of King posed a problem for Bradley. When he went with a 4-3 set, it took King off the field. By playing a 4-2 Forrest Lamp Color Rush Jersey , he could keep one of his best playmakers on the field. As the season wore on, Bradley made this subtle shift to playing more 4-2 sets. King responded by making the pro bowl. In the first game, Bradley had James at free safety, but after seeing James talent on display, he decided that he needed to move one of his best playmakers closer to the ball. James moved to the strong safety position and was asked to play many different roles. It didn’t matter where he was asked to line up, slot corner, defensive line, linebacker, safety - he produced results. His excellent play helped fill the void that was being felt by Bosa’s absence. This move, while allowing James to make a bigger impact, has left the Chargers vulnerable on the backside as Addae has struggled to make key stops at the free safety position.Kyzir White was lost to a knee injury in the 3rd game of the season. That was a big blow for the Chargers, as White was playing lights out at linebacker. It was, however, one of the first dominoes to fall that would lead to a great discovery for the Chargers.Week Six found Jatavis Brown on the injury list and unable to play on Sunday. With White gone, this left the Chargers extremely thin at linebacker. Then came one of Bradley’s best moves of the season: He moved safety Adrian Phillips into that spot.Phillips stepped up to the challenge and has been amazing in that position, earning himself an invitation to the pro bowl.As Bosa’s injury dragged on, the Chargers began rotating players along the defensive line trying to find something that worked. No single player stood out, so the Chargers continued to rotate players in and out of the defensive line. This helped keep this unit fresh and developed multiple linemen. Square, Philon, Rochell Mike Williams Color Rush Jersey , and Jones have all played well while rotating through the line.In Week 10, they tried something new with Nwosu, putting him into Bosa’s defensive end spot on 3rd down. Nwosu responded with 7 quarterback pressures and an 86.7 PFF rating. With Bosa returning the next week, this posed another problem for Bradley: How was he going to keep Nwosu involved? His solution has been to play Melvin Ingraam, Joey Bosa, and Uchenna Nwosu all on the line in obvious third down passing situations.Another surprise has been Michael Davis. At the beginning of the season, no one was talking about him.During the season, Trevor Williams fell out of favor and was replaced by Davis. It seemed like an odd move at the time, but Davis is evolving into a top cornerback. In the Week 15 game against the Chiefs, we saw the culmination of what had been evolving over the season. It was not what we had expected at the beginning of the season. It was not Bradley’s 4-3 scheme. The Chargers played a 4-2 defense the entire game with Phillips in the linebacker role. I’m not even sure this has a name. It’s a dime package in a nickel setup. Call it whatever you want, but I call it genius. It’s a coach finding a way to get his best playmakers on the field. Even though this is not the defense we thought we would see on draft day, Bradley has done a great job in developing talent and getting his playmakers on the field. The beauty of this defense is that it is almost custom-tailored to defend against a pass-happy league including teams like the Chiefs, Patriots, Rams, and Saints. The downside in giving up the extra linebacker and size at the position, is the vulnerability to a power running game, like the Ravens. This week will be a test for this evolving defense, but if they pass this test, they should be set up for a deep playoff run. In the 2018 NFL Draft, The Chargers spent four of their seven draft picks on defensive players. Continuing to build upon that defense should still be the team’s top priority during the offseason. But there are needs along the offensive side of the ball that The Chargers will need to address albeit free agency or the draft. One position that has remained in flux over the last couple of years for Los Angeles has been its offensive line. Should the team look to the draft to solve their issues Darius Philon Color Rush Jersey , one option could be Miami Offensive Tackle, Tyree St. Louis.A 4-star recruit out of IMG Athletic Academy, St. Louis was highly sought after by several college programs. The Florida native turned down offers from Tennessee, USC, Florida, Kentucky, and Florida State before choosing to enroll at the University of Miami. St. Louis began his college career as a contributor on special teams as a freshman. It wasn’t until the midpoint of his sophomore year that he became a permanent starter on the Canes offensive line.St. Louis was installed at right tackle and provided an improvement to an offense that averaged 425.9 yards per game in 2016. His growth as a starter continued the following year as a junior as he allowed only four combined quarterback hits and just one pressure in eight of 12 games in 2017. Following the departure of former Cane tackle K.C. McDermott to the NFL last year, Miami Head Coach Mark Richt reshuffled his offensive line for the 2018 season by moving St. Louis from right to left tackle. However, the transition did not go as smooth as hoped as St. Louis’s play was inconsistent throughout the year and at times looked badly out of position.Despite a down year after making his transition, St. Louis has displayed plenty of qualities that will transition to the NFL. Compiling 33 starts over the past three seasons, the 21-year-old offensive tackle has proven to be an athletic and versatile blocker. St. Louis possesses a solid base frame showing good balance and strength. He does an exceptional job getting downfield to the second level in the running game. For a player of St. Louis’ size, he is surprisingly agile. He shows a good first step and quick footwork that helps maintain protection on the edge.St. Louis will need to make adjustments to his technique at the next level. His hand placement can use some additional work as he sometimes goes too wide on defenders and can get beat with a bull-rush. St. Louis will also need to improve the angles he takes off the snap to prevent himself from being out of position against pass rushers.St. Louis is one of the few big name tackles that will be coming out of the ACC, so teams will definitely have an eye on him over the next couple of months. He will have plenty of opportunities to elevate his draft stock at the East/West Shrine game and the NFL combine. Despite his versatility at both tackle positions, St. Louis is best suited as a right tackle in the NFL and is currently projected as a second or third-day prospect. For the Chargers, offensive tackle Joe Barksdale has not lived up to expectations over the past few years and seems to have faded into a reserve role on the roster. This season Barksdale has only played on 21 percent of the offensive snaps as former 7th round pick Sam Tevi has seen more time as a starter. Los Angeles can avoid a $6.3 Million hit against the cap if they release Barksdale before next season. If the Chargers choose to address their depth at offensive line through the draft, the team could look at St. Louis as a developmental player that could blossom into a future starter.

Breida battled an ankle injury throughout the season, and Mostert broke his forearm in Week 9, leaving the 49ers no choice but to promote both Wilson and Matthew Dayes from the practice squad.Despite the turmoil, Bleacher Report believes the 49ers are entering into the 2019 season with the league’s best backfield Dante Pettis Jersey , and they might be right.McKinnon, Coleman, and Breida are all the type of running backs Moton describes, capable of threatening defenses both on the ground or through the air. In 2017, McKinnon’s last full season, he rushed for 570 yards and another 471 receiving for the Minnesota Vikings. Breida totaled 814 yards rushing and 261 yards receiving as the 49ers’ leader in the backfield in 2018. Coleman last season racked up 800 yards rushing and 276 receiving. The trio combined for 19 touchdowns.Fullback Kyle Juszczyk seems to have taken a back seat to the 49ers’ enticing running backs. He’s a critical cog in the team’s success on the ground and added 324 yards receiving and a touchdown on 30 catches last season. This type of production constitutes an embarrassment of riches for the 49ers and Shanahan’s offense. For comparison, the Seattle Seahawks, who led the league in rushing last season, totaled 2 Jimmy Garoppolo Color Rush Jersey ,084 yards between primary rushers Chris Carson, Mike Davis, and Rashaad Penny. They combined for 15 touchdowns. Their impact in the passing game wasn’t as impressive, combining for just 452 yards in 2018.Given the 49ers’ investment into an impressive backfield, the type of production seen from the Seahawks would be the expectation in San Francisco for 2019. Anything less than a Top 3 rushing offense next season would seem like a disappointment. The 49ers’ running backs aren’t without uncertainty, however. Will McKinnon’s ACL recovery allow him to finally make his debut with the 49ers at the start of the season? Will injuries continue to dampen Breida’s exciting potential? Will Coleman be able to earn a prominent role amidst steep competition? Will Mostert’s value on special teams force one of those above to be inactive on gamedays? The answers to these questions will be revealed in time, and how the position unfolds will undoubtedly be one of the key developments throughout the 49ers’ offseason. For now, though, Shanahan must be giddy with the thought of having McKinnon https://www.49ersfanshop.com/Fred-Warner-Jersey , Breida, and Coleman at his disposal in what is a critical season for him and general manager John Lynch. What are your thoughts on the 49ers’ stable of running backs? Should they be considered among the best in the league? Sounds off in the comments. As I went around checking links to the NFL, something rather interesting crossed my mind: What the hell are the Baltimore Ravens doing? In the latest MMQB (scroll to point 8), they are piling onto Lamar Jackson and brought former 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman in as their new offensive coordinator. Why? To run the read option, or an offense similar to whatever the 49ers were running when Roman was in town. I remember when Colin Kaepernick ran the read option in San Francisco and the Green Bay Packers getting embarrassed. I also remember them clamping down on the same plays a few months later. The read option threw teams off for a time, but the more the 49ers used it Tarvarius Moore Jersey , the more the defenses figured it out. I don’t know how angry we were when they ran the read option in 2014 (Harbaugh’s final year) and many of us screaming the 49ers weren’t fooling anybody with it. Chip Kelly tried doing it and in the 11 games Kaepernick started it wasn’t horrible, but something was missing it felt like. Well the Ravens are going to try this thing again. It’s rather interesting when you’ve seen how the read option was getting diagnosed that maybe it should be used as a formation or wrinkle instead of a full-on offensive system. But the Ravens are going to try it again full throttle. I think the read option has its place as an NFL formation and a play(s) but building an entire offense around it might be a recipe for failure. I don’t have much evidence to support this other than my misguided observations. But it felt as if the read option began crumbling down the more the 49ers did it. Once they realized this and ran it sparingly on games, it still felt like a coin flip. I’m just wondering if we learned anything from this when the 49ers ran it or if we will continue to try to get the read option implemented. Sure, Jackson is having all sorts of success, but that’s a different division and I wonder if they will figure things out as time goes on. Of course my observations are moot. Kyle Shanahan has knocked down the idea that defenses figured out the read option. Still, seeing the Ravens get Roman and run that offense, it feels like history is repeating. OWINGS MILLS Ben Powers Jersey , Md. (AP) — make a third straight start Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens‘ offensive linemen are gearing up for another delightful afternoon of plowing straight ahead as part of the team's suddenly formidable running game.Joe Flacco didn't practice Wednesday and is still waiting to get medical clearance following a hip injury that's kept him sidelined since Nov. 4."There's a process involved that has to do with the doctors and trainers and his rehab," coach John Harbaugh said. "He's progressing really well." Though Harbaugh did not rule out the possibility of Flacco playing Sunday in Atlanta, all signs point to Jackson running the offense when the Ravens (6-5) seek their season-high third straight victory. With Jackson and rookie Gus Edwards leading the way, Baltimore rushed for 267 yards in a win over Cincinnati and another 242 last week in a 34-17 rout of Oakland. The Ravens are looking more of the same against the Falcons (4-7), who own the league's 25th-ranked rushing defense."We're having a blast," rookie right tackle Orlando Brown Jr. said Wednesday. The Ravens opened the second half against the Raiders with a 13-play drive that included 12 runs, the last by Jackson for a touchdown and a 20-10 lead."As an offensive lineman, it feels great to be able to do that White Tony Jefferson Jersey ," guard Alex Lewis said. "It's always fun running the ball. I'm excited what's to come."Baltimore lost three in a row before Jackson took over for Flacco and started getting the ball to Edwards, who replaced Alex Collins (foot injury) as the featured back. Employing the run-pass option — a staple for Jackson at Louisville but a rarity in the NFL — the Ravens are averaging 5.30 yards per carry over the past two weeks.Jackson ran for 117 yards against the Bengals and another 71 last week. Edwards, who started the season on the practice squad, has back-to-back 100-yard games."It definitely opens up your run game, having Lamar in there compared to Joe," Lewis said. "Joe's got a cannon (for an arm), but Lamar has feet and makes defenders miss. It's helped us out tremendously."Hard to believe, but the Ravens have leaped back into the playoff picture with a rookie quarterback and an undrafted rookie running back operating behind a rookie right tackle. It all begins with Jackson taking the snap, then either handing the ball to Edwards or dashing off on his own. Jackson's speed and elusive qualities are almost impossible to duplicate in practice."He's got such quickness and speed Tony Jefferson Jersey 2019 , like a wide receiver or a corner has, but he's behind center," Atlanta coach Dan Quinn said. "You can simulate that with a receiver for the run plays, but it's not as authentic because he can't step back and rip the passes."Edwards spent four years at the University of Miami before transferring to Rutgers for his senior year. He signed as a free agent with Baltimore in May, was assigned to the practice squad in September and activated to the 53-man roster on Oct. 13.After much diligence and an impressive showing on the practice field, the 6-foot-1, 240-pounder is now a starter."Hard work pays off, and he has continued to do that," Harbaugh said. "Talent is part of it. But he's a great example for kids White Maxx Williams Jersey , that if you take the right approach you can achieve anything."There's no bluster to Edwards, who speaks softly and has a reputation for being very low key."Very serious minded. He's kind of all business," Harbaugh said. "It takes a real funny thing to get him to smile. You'd better be on your joke game."Lately, Edwards have given Baltimore's offensive line a reason to grin."They get pumped out there when we're running and getting positive yards," Edwards said. "They're jumping around, looking at the sideline, hoping we continue going. They love it." In the meantime, it’s a great time to trawl the site archives and find our most embarrassing takes, if you haven’t already done so. If the 2019 season is as fruitful as we hope, the Falcons may be in a position to best some of their single season franchise marks. Here’s a handful that might be up for grabs if all goes well in 2019, as we so fervently hope it does. Passing Records4,944 yards, Matt Ryan (2016)38 passing touchdowns, Matt Ryan (2016)651 passing attempts https://www.falconslockerroom.com/authentic-calvin-ridley-jersey , Matt Ryan (2013) 117.1 passer rating, Matt Ryan *2016 It’s not a stretch to think Ryan might be able to break all his own records in 2019. Dirk Koetter will bring an offense that’s heavy on the gunslinging to Atlanta, giving Ryan the opportunity to throw the ball a lot to one of his most talented group of receiving options ever. Couple that with a concerted effort to re-build the offensive line and give him more time and you have a recipe for another tremendous year.Is he likely to best everything he did in his MVP season? No. Is it within the realm of possibility? Yes, I think so. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="RNrvEA">Receiving Record1,871 receiving yards, Julio Jones, 2015Realistically, Julio is not touching the receiving touchdowns record held by Andre Rison, who reeled in 15 in one season back in 1993. It’s also unlikely he’ll top his absurd 136 catches in 2015, given that the team is less hyper-reliant on him as the top target and he’s never come within 20 receptions of that in any other season. The yardage record is certainly within reach, however, given Julio’s insane per game and per catch production. With Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu, Austin Hooper, and Devonta Freeman in the fold and healthy this year Womens Takkarist McKinley Jersey , defenses are either going to have to prioritize Julio and get burned elsewhere or ease off him a bit, which could open him up to a huge year. Just from a talent perspective alone, you have to at least acknowledge the possibility that Julio can do this, and perhaps even make a run at Calvin Johnson’s all-time NFL mark. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="9x7h2s">Scoring Record17 total touchdowns, Michael Turner (2008) If this were just rushing touchdowns, Devonta Freeman wouldn’t really be in the discussion here. But as it’s combined touchdowns and as it’s going to a pretty productive year for the offense, at least on paper, there’s a chance Freeman could equal or exceed this.Freeman has already come close twice, putting up 14 touchdowns in 2015 and 13 in 2016. His pass catching acumen—and Dirk Koetter’s strong inclination to exploit those—means he’d likely only need to get 10 or so touchdowns on the ground to make a real run at the mark. It will depend on Freeman’s health, of course, but opportunity-wise this year might represent his best shot of breaking the franchise mark. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="uGAXWB">Interceptions 10 picks, Scott Case, 1988The only reason this is included here is because of Damontae Kazee’s performance a year ago. Kazee, of course, tied for the league lead with seven interceptions in a little less than a full season as the starting free safety. In this year’s role as the team’s full-time nickel cornerback Takkarist McKinley Jersey White , he’ll have his opportunities to build on that total and seriously challenge Case, whose mark hasn’t been touched in over 30 years. It’s a longshot, but Kazee has the talent and the opportunity to get there. Falcons coach Dan Quinn cleared out all his coordinators this offseason, and will call his own defense. But he added some experience to his staff Monday. The team announced the addition of former Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton as a senior assistant. According to the team’s release, he will assist Quinn with “in-game strategy, clock management, time-out usage and replay review.”The Falcons were going to use former assistant offensive line coach (and Rutgers head coach) Kyle Flood in that role before he left for Alabama. Sutton’s a former head coach at Army.“Calling the defense, spending the extra time to get that right, and making sure our style and identity come across in the right way are exciting challenges,” Quinn said. “Adding someone with Bob’s knowledge and experience to assist with clock and game-management strategies will help us be the best version of the Falcons that we can be in 2019.”Having someone to help with those areas is catching on, as more coaches realize the game is moving at a pace which makes it hard for one guy to process all the information in real time.Sutton was the Chiefs coordinator for six years, but was offered up after this season, and replaced with Steve Spagnuolo.

TEMPE, Ariz. — It’s a new world for the Arizona Cardinals — a new head coach, new offense, new coordinators and an old problem. The team still needs a long-term solution at quarterback. When the Cardinals hired Carolina defensive coordinator Steve Wilks to replace the retired coach Bruce Arians, there was nary a quarterback on the roster.General manager Steve Keim addressed that issue short term by signing Sam Bradford to start and Mike Glennon as the backup. But the Cardinals would love to get a young good one in the draft and nurture him into the job. The problem is, it’s very hard to do, especially when Arizona sits at No. 15 in Thursday’s draft.“I don’t think it’s any secret (how badly Arizona would love a franchise quarterback),” Keim said.“I think the biggest issue comes with the supply and demand at the position. Where is the franchise quarterback going to be available? If you’re willing to trade D.J. Humphries Jersey 2019 , what’s the compensation for it? So, at the end of the day, again, it’s no secret, but are you willing to put the franchise in a position to be set back for years if you’re not right?”Trading up to get one of the best quarterbacks is very expensive. Trading down might work. Both require willing partners, no easy find.If the Cardinals stay at No. 15, the more likely scenario is drafting the player they want there — a cornerback, maybe — and picking one of the lesser-rated QBs later. That would fit their history. Arizona hasn’t drafted a quarterback before the fourth round since Matt Leinart slid to them at No. 10 in 2006. That didn’t work out too well. Here are things to consider as the Cardinals make their pick.QB PURSUITThe past two successful Cardinals quarterbacks were obtained via trade (Carson Palmer) and signed as a free agent (Hall of Famer Kurt Warner). The two quarterbacks drafted by Arizona since Leinart were Ryan Lindley in the sixth round in 2012 and Logan Thomas in the fourth round in 2014.So, if Arizona stays at No. 15, it’s likely that first-round pick will be a non-QB — perhaps wide receiver Calvin Ridley or cornerbacks Josh Jackson or Jaire Alexander — with a second-tier quarterback — Lamar Jackson? — selected sometime after that. That is, unless one of the top QBs slip unexpectedly. The Cardinals have worked out and met with all the best quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield was in Arizona for a visit just last week.DRAFT TRADE HISTORYThe Cardinals have made draft-day trades in four of Keim’s five seasons as general manager. In 2014, Arizona traded its first-round pick (No. 20 overall) to New Orleans for the Saints’ first pick (No. 27) and selected safety Deone Bucannon, now an inside linebacker and one of the team’s leading tacklers. They got a third-round pick in the deal and used it to select wide receiver John Brown.Last year Arizona traded up in the second round to get safety Budda Baker, who had an outstanding rookie season.THIN AT RECEIVERAt wide receiver, the Cardinals have Larry Fitzgerald and not much else. The Browns — John and Jaron– are gone. Last year’s third-round pick Chad Williams hasn’t shown much. The team did add veteran Brice Butler in free agency. But expect the position to be addressed more than once this week.HITS, MISSES AND BARGAINSThe list of Cardinals draft hits is impressive. Go way back to 2004, Arizona chose Fitzgerald third overall youth Chandler Jones Jersey , then followed with Karlos Dansby, Darnell Dockett and Antonio Smith — the core of the 2008 Super Bowl team. Cornerback Patrick Peterson came as the No. 5 overall selection in 2011.The biggest bargains include running back David Johnson in 2015. Chosen out of Northern Iowa in the third round, he was first-team All-Pro in his second season, leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage and touchdowns. That draft also included standout outside linebacker Marcus Golden and the No. 1 pick, D.J. Humphries, now locked in at starting left tackle. Another big bargain was safety Tyrann Mathieu. Keim took a chance on the “Honey Badger” in the third round in 2013 and, although hampered by injuries, was a big force on the defense and a model citizen in the organization.Of course there are misses. The jury is still out on Robert Nkemdiche, the defensive tackle Arizona chose at 29th overall two years ago. Other first-rounders who disappointed were guard Jonathan Cooper in 2013, injury-plagued running back Beanie Wells in 2009, tackle Levi Brown in 2007 and, of course, Leinart.

For him, it represents a chance to rebuild his stock on a one-year contract in a familiar environment after a tough stretch. Marshall is a bit raw and has been penalized frequently in his past two seasons (16), but with some development and mentorship from the best cornerback room in the league, Marshall may turn out to be a solid option in the future.
otball weekends in memory Black De’Vondre Campbell Jersey , but we anticipated that. Now some are worried we could have a repeat in Week 12, considering it’s SoCon Saturday in the SEC (and, quietly, cupcake week for the Power 5’s other top teams as well). There are some bad games. Alabama’s gonna destroy a lesser team this week, but so what? How is that different from every other week so far this year? Look beyond the filler content. True, there are also very few WATCH THIS games. The strength of Week 12 lies in the middle. Below, the Watch Grid plots every national FBS game by watchability. Also De’Vondre Campbell Jersey 2019 , quite a few FCS games are on ESPN+ and elsewhere, and this is the Saturday right before Selection Sunday at that level. Weeknight games removed, for your Saturday convenience. Also, note below that Stanford-Cal has been moved to Dec. 1 and Nevada-San Jose State to noon PT, due to the California wildfires. Saturday, November 17 college football schedule Look at all the totally fine middle-tier games of interest! See? There’s more to life than expecting almost anybody in the top 10 to exert themselves whatsoever! Several conference races could be on the line as well. Cuse-Notre Dame could be straight up great, orrrrr it could be the Irish exposing a team that S&P+ would rank well below the committee’s spot. After reviewing resumes Black Deion Jones Jersey , this is probably a must-win for the Irish -- 11-1 doesn’t seem likely to do it, no matter how much help they get. GameDay is at UCF, as expected, and Cincy-UCF could be spectacular. The winner’s atop the AAC East and in the New Year’s Six driver’s seat (what a weird thing to have a driver’s seat) and all that, but just watch the stuff on the field. UCF’s again mostly driven by its offense, and Cincinnati has the best defense the Knights will face until bowl season. The other all-ranked game is on a channel I don’t get. Y’all have fun! Your Week 12 S&P+ picks for every FBS game are here. Michael Vick was the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football. Then he wasn’t. Then he was. Now he isn’t.Legends head coach Kevin Coyle confirmed to WSB in Atlanta today that Vick will not be the offensive coordinator, although he added that he’s still hoping Vick will serve on the staff in some capacity.“He’s had a number of commitments that he’s been fulfilling with FOX in the broadcasting end of things so he hasn’t been able to be with us full time as we’d like him to be Deion Jones Jersey 2019 ,” Coyle said. “We’re going to try to carve out exactly the role that he can take.”Vick said in April that he would serve as offensive coordinator under his old coach Brad Childress. Childress later left the Legends, and there was an initial report that Vick was leaving too. But the Legends then said Vick was staying. Now it’s official: Vick is not the Legends’ offensive coordinator, and those who wonder if the AAF is ready for prime time are justified in thinking this is awfully late in the preseason to make that official.
Rio throwing a foreign object into the punch receptacle regarding Russell Wilson‘s tenure with the Seahawks Budda Baker Jersey 2019 , an obvious question arises: If Seattle would consider trading Wilson, who should be calling?Although a trade would make more sense in 2020, when Wilson’s salary spikes from $17 million under the last year of his current contract to $30.34 million under the franchise tag, the fact that Del Rio has heard scuttlebutt about a possible trade means that it’s worth making a phone call to G.M. John Schneider, if a team needs a quarterback and potentially wants Wilson. But here’s the problem. The Seahawks, who would like to increase their slate of 2019 draft picks from four Black Robert Nkemdiche Jersey , will want a lot for one of the best three or four quarterbacks in football. And Wilson will still expect to emerge from the transaction as the highest-paid player in NFL history, with the franchise-tag dance providing his ultimate leverage against whichever team has him under contract this year.So who should at least explore the situation? The Giants currently make the most sense. Even though a $5 million roster bonus already has been paid to Eli Manning, New York could send perhaps the sixth overall pick in 2019 and either No. 17 or next year’s first-round pick for a 30-year-old quarterback who would, contract permitting, be their guy for at least a decade. (Wilson told me in December 2017 that he intends to play until 45.) Maybe he wouldn’t push so hard contractually, given the sponsorship and media opportunities that would generate much more money for him during and after his NFL career. As a TV personality Robert Nkemdiche Jersey 2019 , former Giant Michael Strahan has become everything former Giant Tiki Barber wanted to be, and then some. Wilson would be a candidate to pull off that same feat.Other teams that should at least consider making a call to the Seahawks include the Chargers (who also have a quarterback under contract through 2019 but could desperately use Wilson’s star power in the “Fight for L.A.”), the Dolphins (who seem to be more inclined to position themselves via the natural unfolding of events in 2019 to draft a quarterback early in 2020, which is a fancy way of saying “tanking”), and maybe the Titans (they could offer Marcus Mariota plus a first-round pick, and with Wilson the Titans instantly would become a national brand). Here’s another intriguing possibility: The first overall pick from Arizona https://www.thecardinalslockerroom.com/authentic-andy-isabella-jersey , for Wilson. It’s an interesting philosophical question. If the Cardinals are thinking about drafting Kyler Murray with that No. 1 pick, does it make more sense to essentially draft Wilson with that same pick? He’s 30, but he’s proven. He’s also far more expensive than Murray would be.After talking it all through earlier today on and PFTOT, Simms and I decided that a possible trade makes much more sense in 2020 — unless Wilson is signed to a long-term deal. And it makes sense to expect a long-term deal, even if it comes after the Wilson-imposed April 15 deadline. Last year, the Seahawks essentially reconfigured the team around Wilson. The team was aware of his contractual situation at the time Black Markus Golden Jersey , and the 2018 plan for proceeding with the construction of the roster surely included a plan for making it all work financially in 2019 and beyond. The preseason begins in a day, the regular season begins in less than a month. As in every year, rookies will get plenty of attention — especially those that perform well.So which rookies are you the most excited to see? It’s a question that was posed earlier today on .As Charean Williams of PFT suggested, the question probably should be which rookies other than Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray are you the most excited to see?Murray clearly is the guy who has sparked the most fascination of all rookies. For me, his NFL prospects entail a blend of wonder as to what he may be able to do along with concern that perhaps he’ll get injured, especially given his size in relation to the size Markus Golden Jersey 2019 , speed, and strength of NFL-caliber defenders. In the comments, name the rookies you’re looking forward to watching the most in the comments, and feel fry to explain why.
